How can I learn to not translate spanish into english in my head?

I have been learning spanish and I want to know how I can hear spanish words and not translate them into english in my head. I want to be able to hear a word and know exactly what it means. Please explain why this is happening or how I can stop it from happening, because I want to be able to understand easily. Best answer wins! How can I learn to not translate spanish into english in my head?
That's hard, isn't it, but it's the most important thing for becoming more confident in a new language! There was this CD set i had a while ago that teaches you techniques for learning foreign languages. It was all "when you hear "Tree" you don't think of the word or what it means, you just picture a big green leafy thing. In the same way, try to think of č°Šrbol as a big green leafy thing."

Maybe try to listen to music or watch a Spanish tv show. it will go pretty fast so you won't have time to try to translate it!

If you have to remember vocab, make flash cards. Instead of putting English on one side, you can put a picture of it instead. This way, maybe you will associate the Spanish words with concepts instead of English words.

get into Spanish mode: no thinking, writing, or speaking English allowed!

When you have to write something for Spanish class (or for whatever) start in Spanish, don't write it out in English first and then translate it.

Once you learn a lot of vocabulary, here is something you can do: when you learn a new word, instead of asking for the English equivalent, ask your teacher or whoever you're talking to to explain it in Spanish. (if you still don't get it, then you can look it up in the dictionary)

ok those are all the tips i can think of... good luck! keep trying... you have to train your brain somehow! How can I learn to not translate spanish into english in my head?
Well, one way would be to actually expose yourself to the language at a spanish speaking country, being completely disconected from english (almost) and having to rely only on your spanish.

That's actually how I did so for my english. :)How can I learn to not translate spanish into english in my head?
this will take years probably. i don't know of any way of MAKING it happen.
